UMUC 411 is an online new student orientation program. The purpose of the Orientation, is to introduce new students to the WebTycho online classroom, while educating them about UMUC. Alumni volunteers monitor the classroom and provide feedback to student inquiries. Volunteers must have taken at least one course on WebTycho. Alumni Ambassadors welcome students attending UMUC face to face classes held at the College Park campus. At the start of each semester volunteers greet students as they are arriving for the first day of class. Navigation stations are staffed from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each evening. Allies Mentor Program volunteers mentor new undergraduate students through their transition to UMUC. Each Ally is matched with a student based upon common academic majors or career interests to help guide them through their first term(s) at UMUC.
